Sanofi Aventis eChat

November 2nd, 2006 by Makis

I was assigned to create a flash slide show as part of an online chat application. This appeared at the same time while the discussion was being held and an administrator had control of the slide show itself, directing the conversation in relation to the specific content of each slide.

The page numbers on the top left corner where dynamically updated and the buttons at the bottom where used for navigation. The content of the slides where mainly text and images but there where some animation sequences as well.

This was part of a series of eChat sessions. The others that followed in about a monthly frequency where pretty much on the same basis.

Modus Website

The first project I got assigned to when I went to work at Modus was the homepage of the company. Of course it had to be prestigious and clever. This is a flash website, created from scratch, solely by myself. Here is a screen of the final result:

My boss had the initial concept to create something similar to the iTunes viewer. I ended up creating many different animation sequences for the slide show, just to find the right one that would please the other colleagues.

The flash file itself is very customizable with variables controlling many things – the stage size, how the images fade out or tint out to the background, at what angle they are skewed giving an impression of pseudo-perspective and more. In addition, it was connected with the company’s CMS, storing the content in a database and having a script produce an XML file to import it inside the flash website. Overall, it’s a pretty stable construct considering that it was a solo job.
